Ashleigh John is the Managing Director of Mullane Lindsay and practises in our family law team. She is a Law Society of NSW accredited specialist in family law. She joined the firm in 2007, was named a Rising Star in the Doyles Guide in 2017, and has been listed as a Leading family and divorce lawyer for Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and Central Coast each year since 2019. She was a finalist in the 2022 NSW Women Lawyers Achievement Awards, for Private Practice Lawyer of the Year and Regional Lawyer of the Year.

Ashleigh has extensive experience in complex property and parenting matters, and focuses on practical outcomes at what is often the most tumultuous time in her clients’ lives. She does not only address the legal issues; she helps put clients back in control by guiding them through decisions about children, finances, business and the future. She is admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW, is on the High Court register of practitioners, and regularly appears for her clients in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

She has led a number of local family law organisations, including as President of the Hunter Valley Family Law Practitioners’ Association and Chair of the Greater Newcastle Family Law Pathways Network, and taught the Family Law Practice subject at the University of Newcastle for five years with colleague Rose Laffan. Ashleigh also has a keen interest in governance: she is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors course and sits on the board of Business Hunter.
